Berger Make Epilux 5 Epoxy Coal Tar
A two-pack epoxy coal tar coating pigmented with high-quality materials and cured with polyamide hardener. It provides excellent resistance to water, chemicals, and soil environments, making it an ideal choice for steel and concrete structures exposed to immersion and underground conditions. It also performs well when used with cathodic protection systems.
Description
Type:
Two-Pack Epoxy Coal Tar, Polyamide Cured
Volume:
20 Ltrs
Category:
Coal Tar Epoxy / Protective Coating
Usage:
Epilux 5 Epoxy Coal Tar is recommended for mild steel and concrete structures such as storage tanks, pipelines, sluice and barrage gates, caissons, hydel penstocks, irrigation projects, and marine structures. It is highly resistant to alkalinity and sulphates present in soil and water, and withstands backfilling materials in underground applications. With volume solids of 66 ± 2%, it delivers a DFT of 100–125 µm per coat (corresponding WFT 152–189 µm), with a theoretical spreading rate of 5.3–6.6 m²/litre. It dries to touch in 4 hours, hard dries in 48 hours, and fully cures in 7 days. Minimum overcoating interval is 12–14 hours, maximum 2 weeks. It resists continuous service temperatures up to 93°C and intermittent exposure up to 120°C.
Applications:
Ideal for underground pipelines, irrigation systems, chemical plants, fertilizer units, marine structures, and water intake systems where long-term water and chemical resistance is critical. Provides excellent adhesion and durability in both immersed and buried service environments.
