Galvosil 15700
A solvent-borne, self-curing inorganic zinc-rich silicate primer designed to provide long-term corrosion protection of steel structures in highly corrosive environments. It offers outstanding weathering and abrasion resistance, along with galvanic protection against mechanical damage and excellent chemical resistance within pH range 6–9.
Description
Type:
Inorganic Zinc-Rich Silicate Primer
Volume:
20 Ltrs (Base 15709 + Zinc 97170, mixed 3.4:6.6 by weight)
Category:
Zinc Silicate Primer / Heavy-Duty Protective Coating
Usage:
Galvosil 15700 is recommended as a heavy-duty, rust-preventing primer for newbuild and maintenance steel structures. It is suitable for a wide range of environments up to C5/CX corrosivity categories (ISO 12944), including offshore, marine, refineries, petrochemicals, and tank exteriors. It can also serve as a complete single-coat system for long-term steel protection under moderately to severely corrosive and abrasive conditions. The coating provides continuous dry heat resistance up to 450°C without topcoat and up to 540°C (peak 600°C) with suitable topcoats. Recommended DFT is 50 µm per coat (range 50–100 µm), with a theoretical spreading rate of 13 m²/litre at 50 µm DFT. Touch dry in 30 minutes at 20°C, hard dry in 1 hour, and fully cured in 24 hours at 20°C.
Applications:
Recommended for structural steel, piping, bridges, offshore installations, tank linings, and chemical industry equipment requiring highly durable corrosion and abrasion resistance. It complies with ISO 12944 (C5/CX systems), NORSOK M-501 System 1/1A, and SSPC Paint 20, Type I, Level 1. It also meets US FDA and EU food regulations for contact with liquid and dry foodstuff, making it suitable for select storage applications.
